August 11, 2011 - Willisboro, NY to Burlington, VT via Shellburne, VT

Why Shellburne? Potential boaters of this route, take note. Best diesel prices on the lake, today it was $3.99, a bargain next to Plattsburgh's $5.09.

Arrived early to the Burlington Community Boathouse marina. This is always a popular spot because of its easy access to the city of Burlington. Marge jumps ship and takes the shuttle to a nail salon. The Kellers are unable to meet us because Pete was unable to make an earlier connection returning from a business trip. Pete has a funny definition of "retirement."

Bruce (Vice-Commodore) and Patrice Buxton

Bruce and Patrice Buxton arrive promptly at four and we had a great time with them catching up on the ups and downs of our lives since we were last together. We walked up the street to a nice restaurant and the Buxton's headed back to Rochester, VT, an hour or more away.

When we returned to the boat we noticed there was a concert in the park and went over to see what was going on. Lots of people and dogs. Burlington is a very pet friendly town. Met a woman walking an Irish Deerhound and an Italian Spimone (probably butchered the spelling) that were incredibly friendly huge dogs.

Back to the boat, planning an early start toward home. They have an antique boat show coming into the marina tomorrow so we could't stay longer if we wanted to.
